Restaurant Review: Moodz eten and drinken, Delft, Netherlands

 Last week we went out for dinner at Moodz. We had tried to go there before, but unfortunaely we had not made a reservation, so we ended up having to go to another restaurant instead which was right across the street called Maxime. Maxime turned out to be really good! Hoping to go back before we leave and take pictures this time.

This time we made a reservation for Moodz. The decor was really beautiful and stylish. The service was a bit slow (but most places in the Netherlands has slow service, so that wasn't a shocker).
The menu was quite small, but offered enough options to choose a few nice things that both Martin and I liked.

I choose a set menu that had 2 options for you to choose for appetizer, entree and dessert. I selected the tuna tartar with avocado and crayfish for the appetizer:

The tartar was really good. It was a really good quality piece of tuna, though it was a little too chunky to be called a tartar. The crayfish was also nice; it wasn't too seafoody tasting which I liked since I'm not a huge seafood fan.

The beef medallions with asparagus in butter soup with truffle cream and roasted rozeval potatoes for my entree (Sorry I started eating and then realized I hadn't taken a picture!):

The beef was amazing. Tender, juicy and flavourful. It's really a shame that they over cooked the vegetables. The potatoes were good though (Martin didn't really like them so I got 2 servings :).

And for dessert I chose profiteroles with caramel. Unfortunately I inhaled my dessert before taking a picture (I need to work on remember to take pictures! Oops!) But it was really nice looking and tasty. It had homemade vanilla whipped cream (I love seeing the little vanilla speckles :) Is that weird?) and the caramel was delish! The 3-course menu was 29.50 Euro.

I only had a taste of the tartar since I ordered it for Martin since he likes tartar more than I do. Martin ordered 2 appetizers for us to share and one entree.


For the appetizers we ordered Lamb ham from Texel lambs and Reindeer meat sausage:

It was so good! The lamb was really flavourful and had some herbs on the outside. I really like the reindeer sausage! It didn't taste much different from other cured sausages that I've had. It was worth a try. They were 3.40 and 2.90 Euro.


And finally Martin's entree, he chose the duck fillet and lamb chops (this meal is not on the online menu, so I do not remember the whole description):

The lamb was good, but the chops were extremly small. I would have like a bit more of the lamb. The duck was really tender, but I still prefer Martin's Magret de Carnard with apples and maple. This dish was 17.75 Euro.


Overall, it was a good experience and the food was good. But I've had nicer meals at other restaurants in Delft for the same price, so I don't think we'll be back at Moodz.

Rain, rain, go away!

It has been raining all week (and looks like this coming week as well). But today was just cloudy (with a chance of rain), so I went out on a run/walk. Since we are leaving the Netherlands in less then 2 weeks I've been trying to take more walks and take more pictures. All the things I love here I want to make sure I remember, so expect a few more picture posts like these :)

 And here is our favourite Belgian pub: T'klooster. :) We will miss this tiny pub with all our hearts!

I took a really long walk on Monday because the weather was so great! Here are some of the things I saw:

Springtime!

I was going to post some new recipes today, but I forgot to take a picture! Oops!
I will take a picture next time and make a post :)

I'm really going to miss the wildlife of the Netherlands when I move back to Canada! But I suppose the bluejays and cardinals will lift my spirits ;)
